WELLNESS

Why Massage?
In a world where we continually have less time to do the things we need, it is important to make the most of the time we have. When was the last time you spent an hour with a qualified professional who could see to your body's needs, who could answer your questions and point you in the proper direction? When was the last time you were able to address physical complaints, gain understanding of you body and come away from the process feeling rested? As the cost of healthcare is rising rapidly, now is the time to take responsibility for your personal well being.

What is Massage?
Massage is the science and art of assessing and applying various techniques and forms of touch to the soft tissues (skin, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and fascia) of the body. Therapeutic massage is used to treat injury and release stress and everyone can benefit from the effects of massage. Massage occurs in a safe, private, environment that respects the client's self-determined outcome for the session. Clients are encouraged to ask questions and be active during their treatment. T he client is usually undressed (at times there may not need to be reason to disrobe) to his or her level of comfort and is always covered with a sheet or ‘drape.' Only the body part being worked upon is uncovered so that the client remains secure. Massage should never be painful, although at times we do work through discomfort.

Deep Tissue techniques help relive muscle knots or 'Trigger Points.' Deep tissue massage need not cause pain, although some discomfort (always within the clients tolerence) is not uncommon.

Myofascial techniques work with the connective tissues that wrap and shape the muscle. This fascia allows muscles to move indepenently of one another. At times these tissues stick together to form adhesions this will limit range of motion. Myofascial stretching helps to regain normal mobility.

CranioSacra l Therapy focuses on the cranium and sacrum and helps to relive imbalances in the deepest levels of the body. Sessions are performed using light touch with the client fully clothed.

A Time to Ask Questions .
The time spent with a massage therapist allows you the opportunity to ask the questions you have about your body. Client education is a priority in my practice because a good understanding of your body is key to your health and continued well being.

While relaxation is beneficial in itself, somatic therapies have many other benefits to offer.

· Reduced pain
· Fewer and less intense headaches
· Improved immune function
· Mental clarity
· Better digestion
· Increased mobility and flexibility
· Reduced anxiety
· Relief from stress

Massage and CranioSacral therapy are excellent preventative measures and welcome additions to standard medical care. It affords you the time to better know your own body. Spend an hour with a qualified professional who can answer questions and educate on proper breathing, stretching, and relaxation techniques.

Please feel free to write or call with any questions you may have. Many insurance companies offer coverage for Therapeutic Massage. Feel better, live better.
